OK, did a clean install again, then
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
apt-get install xorg
apt-get install fluxbox
apt-get install nodm
apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts*
apt-get install librxtx-java
apt-get install mc
apt-get install firefox
and installed latest HWE.
Unpacked JDK 6 update 45
So far it works with no problems (just once it did not power off after
hibernation). So either it is fixed in this kernel version or the
problem was caused by combination with bumblebee and nvidia driver.

OK, installed 3.14.0-031400rc7-generic #201403162235. As the NTB does
not freeze always, it will take some time to test it.
I had to remove bumblebee and nvidia-331 packages due to some error
during 3.14 install complaining about
..'nv_acpi_driver_template' has initializer but incomplete

dvgrab fails to capture from DV camera when it is not connected during
