Just wanted to add my trace-- this problem has been around for a long
time.
Not sure my trace has the necessary debugging packages... oh well.
Will intrepid bring a fresh debian-port? Maybe it'll be fixed.

Thanks for the thought, Jose Angel Bonilla. Unfortunately, it doesn't
help the codec install looping. :-/
It does seem to be confined to people who upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy,
so you're on the right track.

[hardy] kaffeine loops on Codec package is already installed
I have the same problem described here trying to play a clip on Amazon's
MP# download section.
I freshly upgraded to Kubuntu 8.04 today, with Mediabuntu. Maybe
something mediabuntu installed is at fault? No idea.
It's unfortunate to see 'fix released when it's clearly still a
problem.

On the advice of the Kubuntuforums, I added the extra KDE repo line
listed in the upgrade process, even though I haven't used those
packages... but it still doesn't offer me the upgrade.

Adept doesn't offer upgrade from Edgy to Feisty
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109837
You received this
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: adept
Adept manager won't offer to upgrade from Edgy to Feisty, either by
Full Upgrade button (greyed out) or by popping up the upgrade dialog
(it did on my three other computers, which upgraded fine). My
sources.list includes edgy-updates for main
Attached sources.list. In preparation for the upgrade, I had commented
out many third party repos, leaving just the official ubuntu.com
sources. No luck.
