Hi Bryce!
I'm using Oneiric since release. It seems this bug is no more. I'm

Hey Jeremy!
I did enable apport, but I didn't find anything in /var/crash. I guess I
misused the word "crash".
Is there any way to check gnome's dependencies and stuff?
Thanks!

Public bug reported:
I installed Ubuntu 11.10 freshly on thursday last week, on Saturday I
got gnome-shell. On Monday, it crashed somehow and didn come back.
After logging in Gnome, the screen looks like the screenshot attached:
without window bar and close icons, opened a terminal with CTRL ALT
Just realized: just booted Ubuntu and went to update-manager to update
packages, if any. There were some: checked them all and clicked install.
When Ubuntu asked my password, above the text field was "[Invalid
UTF-8]".
I wonder if this problem isn't system-wide...

Will I have to do this procedure every time Ubuntu updates its kernel and
misconfigure the network?
Isn't it a case of updating the driver Ubuntu ships with?

Hey Daniel!
It's about like that. What I can say that I understood, in a non-expert
view, is:
1) No, my card did work with 2.6.38-10 kernel. It was doing it randomly.
That link I refer says that Ubuntu automatic config does not get a good
driver, or something like that.
2) Yes, the link proposes

Hi, Daniel!
I did
"apport-bug --save network11.crash linux" at -11 kernel and
"apport-bug --save network10.crash linux" at -10 one.
Do I have to send it using apport-cli? How do I do that?
I tried some times but I got confused with it.
Sorry for this noobie work and thanks!
