I also have had this problem after a fresh install of 12.04 64bit. I am suddenly and randomly logged out, losing whatever I was working on when the crash occurred. It seems to happen with increasing frequency the longer the machine is left on. The syslog gave no clues as to the fault.
I have an i7, asus 1155 motherboard, ATI 5000 series graphics card and crucial SSD which worked fine with 10.10 and the FLGRX driver installed on 12.04 without problems.
