While the lts-quantal kernel works, it is not ideal. This kernel only
has support until 2013. I would much prefer this issue be resolved in
the stock 3.2.0 kernel which has suppport until 2017.

I can confirm this issue and that turning off desktop effects works
round the issue.
I ran into the issue after making a machine headless and moving it so
had to disable desktop effects in the terminal. Todo this you use the

[jaunty] cheese creates /home/username/Webcam folder and I don't want
Ah... Should have said. I delete all the folders from my HOME folder so
there is no 'Video' any more. Cheese is creating the folder at the
location due to this fact.

Running cheese always creates a folder 'Webcam' in your home folder.
This forces a way way of working and structure some like me do not want.
The optimal solution is to be able to select a default folder all
captured images and videos are saved to.

EOG: Images blurred at 100% when smoothing enabled.

be. The smoothing is being applied and should not be.

* Take screenshot of desktop.
* Open in EOG.
* Scale to 100%.
