I see this as well, it occurs anywhere from every half hour to every
three or four hours. Dell Inspiron 1520 with Intel integrated mobile
graphics. No keyboard input is accepted, I can move the mouse but
nothing responds to any clicks, even the seconds on the clock are stuck.

back to gdm login on tty7, but when I logged back into Unity everything

Correction-The upgrade has broken HAL, GParted, and Firefox even with
the workaround implemented.
