use Windows Vista in C: use second partition sda2 formatted with ReiserFS as / use third partition sda3 formatted with ReiserFS as /usr install bootloader in second partition (hd0,1) activate bootloader in Windows via EasyBCD This did not work. Second try: use third partition sda2 formatted with ext3 as / install bootloader in third partition (hd0,2) activate bootloader in Windows via EasyBCD This worked. I do not know what I did wrong the first time. Maybe it is wrong to use ReiserFS as a file system or it is wrong to use more than one partition or did I use a wrong combination? But then the installer should prevent me from doing something like that. What would have happened if I would have used hda0 for installing the bootloader? If it would have failed I maybe would have had a problem to restore my MBR as I use an OEM version of Windows Vista. But now Ubuntu 8.10 works fine and I will start to learn and explore.
