Omer, thanks for the pointer, but sadly this didn't fix it. I installed
"nvidia-current_304.37-0ubuntu1~xedgers~quantal1_amd64" from that link
you provided and my session still crashes when using either Thunderbird,
Firefox or attempting to use Unity...
Anything else I can do?

It seems that if I unplug/plugin the unified receiver multiple times, it
will connect eventually. Of course, this is not how it's supposed to

good news (I hope) -- the latest 3.2.23 kernel does *not* give me a
kernel panic when using Fn+F2 to re-enable wifi. I tried it again with
3.5.0-4-generic, and it results in kernel panic each -- time!
