After just checking, (not sure why I didn't think of it earlier), the
problem does not occur with the background patterns included with
nautilus.

I can confirm the same issue with my Thinkpad x61s, remaining even after
the update to kernel 2.6.24.15. As described above, a short idle period
results in lcd dimming and resumption of activity with a click or mouse
movement results in further dimming. Not more than a small annoyance at

Thanks Jerome,
I hope this issue gets fixed. I agree this is a temporary fix and not really a

Upon upgrading from 7.04 to 7.10 the sound card would not work. Tried

However on reinstalling 7.10 (no upgrade) it worked fine as expected.

I am using Gusty on Dell Inspiron 640 M
Immediately after logging in (on boot up) the brightness is increased.
I tried switching to console and back to GUI. No it does not happen
However while working suddenly the brightness automatically increases.
I have to reduce it everytime this happens.
Same issue for me, have noticed that on 6.10 the HDD and DVD drives are
correctly identified as Master and Slave while on Feisty, both are
identified as SCSI and as master drives, not sure if this affects
anything. Have gone back to 6.10 but still having issues with VCD.
