Same problem too.
The desktop hangs also suddenly from time to time when leaving/entering vmware.

The package is build for all architectures.
So there is no difference between the ppc or i386 package
Is there another package-reposity that can be used?

Apt-get tells e its not possible to install mythbuntu-common because

This bug also happend to me (MacMini with PowerPC)
The workaround is to deactivate the partner source, do the dist-upgrade and
re-enable the partner source after the successful upgrade.
