Hi guys, I might have found the problem. I tried to install dropbox on a fresh linux laptop but already copied my home directory to it. That contained the .dropbox-dist directory which caused a lot of problems. Completely purging dropbox with $ sudo dpkg --purge dropbox $ rm -r .dropbox-dist
