I had to use the nomodset kernel option to get even the live cd of 12.04 Beta2
to run (64x with nvidia gt240.)
The installation was done with an automated re-partition for dual boot with
win7.
After install on re-boot there was no grub2 menu to select desired os - the pc

Looking at some google- results I find:-
To install Ubuntu 9.04 on the HP550 go to bios and disable SATA Native Mode -
do normal Jaunty install - then go back to bios
and re-enable the SATA Native Mode.
(I have no way to check this but perhaps it is worth a try/soloution for
your problem.)

This solved the problem with an Installation of Jaunty NBR on an eeepc
1000h that had been giving me a headache since a week or so. Thanx so
much. As remarked above needs to be impossible for user to install this
conflicting stuff.

Youtube video are not displayed although I have the flash
with Jaunty NBR updated to 05-apr-09 I tried a forced install but
immediatly got a red-halt icon telling me to run synaptic-update which
then uninstalled the package.

Here it is the Logitch Quickcam Communicate STX that has a similar
problem. In skype all one gets for a video- signal is a green colored
mess. Microphone feature works fine and I use it.

well I am no expert - but all that has been done here that seems at all
relevant is the big (166 files - ) partial update that was done this
morning. The fact that I have upgraded the cpu also from amd x24200 to a
5000 doesnt make things slower either heheh.

It has occured to me that this problem showed up just after an automated
(for the t-home receiver at least - not for a pc+VLC of course-) System
Update a couple of days ago.
So i now think the problem is that the data included in the vlc
t_home_iptv.m3u which one can still d-load from
Here with same cam and 2.6.27-4-generic largely confirm above with
remark that the built-in microphone seems to work fine - just the
cam/video is the problem.
