After rebooting, I did:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
Then the error use -f option was given.
So I did
sudo apt-get install -f
And all problems (for me) are gone ...

Hello Brian,
I hope you can read and understand my English.
On my other laptop I installed Xubuntu 12.10 today and there was no problem.
So I tried on my normal, with 3 partitions for 3 installations.
I tried to reproduce the error, but all seems to work now, don't ask me
why :-)

Everything is working, so i have disabled this error ..

On my laptop (Acer Aspire 5535) the shutdown or reboot say's:
hal main process (683) terminated with status 1
avahi-deamon main process (688) terminated with status 255
modem-manager: caught signal 15, shutting down
init: Disconnected from system bus
After this nothing happens and I must switch

In Kubuntu there is no problem, in Gnome with KDM instead of GDM the problem
