Hu... no, not a repeat of bug 66637.
For the Vaio, the fix from bug 66637 works fine and the Vaio works and
hibernates fine (but there is an issue with graphics at boot time and in
a transparent panel -- new problem in Edgy).
For the AJP 3000M the fix solves the problem with swap, that now wo
Public bug reported:
When booting Edgy, the bootloader splash screen is not the Ubuntu name
and the progress bar but a bunch of flashing blocks. Ditto the
closedown splash screen. As far as I can tell it is only a problem for
the program that does the screen, Ubuntu seems to actually boot and ru
Hummm... this looks very like the bug 66637 problem so yes it looks like
it might be a variant. The only problem is in trying to follow the
instructions in that thread, 'fdisk -l' returns nothing for me, even for
a system with a swap device currently working.
I will move to using that thread to p
I had forgotten I had submitted this bug report.
After a large number of reboots of the two machines after the upgrade to
Dapper, both spontaneously started working. As far as I am aware both
work fine under Edgy.
Apologies for not "closing" this bug when the problem went away.

It is probably worth noting that now I have upgraded from Dapper to
Edgy, Rhythmbox works fine for me.

I am happy to attach data that will help on this, but I am not sure at

Thanks.

Public bug reported:
Hibernate used to work fine when my laptop (AJP M3000N) was running
Dapper. I upgraded to Edgy and now it will not hibernate.
The machine just seems to hang with a flashing underscore at the top
left of the screen. No disc activity and now power off.

Maybe I am just seriously irritated presently having been hit by this
problem but I recollect there was a message saying there was going to be
an issue with courier-authdaemon during the early stages of the upgrade
so why couldn't there have been a message telling me how to get round
the problem.
I am an Ubuntu fan but this bug in the dapper -> edgy distribution
upgrade really, really, really annoyed me. If upgrade-manager -c
depends on python-vte then it should test for the presence of this
package before starting -- and tell people to install it if it is not
there.

Just to add top the data, I see I forgot to say what was happening on
the UI. Rhythmbox starts entirely as expected and loads all the
artists/music files. The status bar right "doing something" indicator

Rhythmbox used to work for me on my workstation but now does not. I

Whenever I run rhythmbox, it starts, the frame comes up, I can play
