I get the same, except in the server flavour of Ubuntu.
I'll be sitting here, and every 10-15 minutes, the CPU jumps to 100%,
the fan goes full tilt. I thought it might have been alot of dust, but
after having htop running for a bit, i notice console-kit-daemon is the
culprit.

This is no longer an issue. when -7-generic came out, it seemed to run
normally.
I cant work out how to close this, so I'd appreciate it if you could.

My Compaq M2000 Fails to boot after upgrading to 2.6.27-6.
All other 2.6.27-* kernel's seems to boot fine.
I turned off the slash screen and also removed the quiet boot option, and from
what I can see, its not even attempting to mount the RootFS

I'm getting the same issue, However this computer doesn't have wireless,
So i cant disable that to try and boot.
All previous kernel's boot except the "Last known configuration"
This is a Compaq M2000
cpu model name : Mobile AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2800+
