The git corruption symptom still occurs in 10.10 with ext4 + ecryptfs
home.

Importance:
This temporarily solves the problem for me :
cd /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/GMenuSimpleEditor/
sudo rm *.py
find /usr/share/python-support/python-gmenu/GMenuSimpleEditor/*.py | xargs -n 1
sudo ln -s
cd /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/GMenuSimpleEditor/
sudo rm *.py
find
Same problem, with mac mini hardware, up-to-date Hardy Heron,
2.6.24-19-generic kernel, and locales_2.7.9-4_all :
Generating locales...
en_AU.UTF-8...
And then freezes.
This happens during almost every software upgrade (using update manager).
