Presently have updated to kernel 3.2.0-49-generic-pae and have monitored
over two weeks and not a single ext4 buddy error has been created.
Can others move up to this kernel and validate. This seems to have cured
my issue. Think I'll lock myself down at this one.

After one week my log shows a single buddy error. This is a distinct
improvement. Hopefully the next kernel update will totally cure it.

This is interesting.
Just put on kernel 3.2.0-48 pae and over the past three days no buddy errors
reported in the logs.
Will monitor over the next couple of weeks, so far, whatever was done to
the kernel, appears to have cured my issue.

I too am experiencing buddy errors with EXT4.
using 3.2.0-39-generic-pae
The volume giving the errors is a RAID 1 setup using dmraid. So I wonder if in
this situation there is an issue there. This volume was upgraded from ext3 as
well.
I don't see errors in the other ext4 volumes.
The errors
I correct myself. my slapd is not running I have the following errors in
syslog:
Apr 28 13:16:10 chamraid02 slapd[3507]: bdb(dc=cham,dc=local): Program version
4.7 doesn't match environment version 0.99
Apr 28 13:16:10 chamraid02 slapd[3507]: hdb_db_open: database
dc=cham,dc=local cannot be
I was upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 and so not using slapd.conf. I get
this error..
Setting up slapd (2.4.15-1ubuntu3) ...
Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.d/ in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1... done.
Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
- directory dc=cham,dc=local... done.

Can I just add that I have the LG GH22LNP20 (IDE) and am having similar
problems with the latest Ubuntu Kernel (8.10) and sometimes prevents the
machine from booting. The message are idential to what Nicolas is
receiving. I tried Ubuntu 8.04 but the drive could not be mounted at
all. I haven't
I have this problem too. I am using Hardy 8.04 - 2.6.24-19 (it also happened in
-16). UUID all match fine.
BUT I have edited init to add sleep 10 in premount and mount stages. Since I
did that the splash disappears
when Reading files needed to boot.
