Today I have the latest Tormod and git update and build radeon.ko and
drm.ko; I rmmod fglrx and modprobe these, but things are still slow.

What more information do you need?
lspci and lsusb have nothing to do with the problem, nor does the disk
type or settings.
Most people who have this problem don't have this problem for very long
because they fix it; but you can reproduce the problem on any PC like
this:

I had another try today, this time MFC260C was listed in brother drivers
- maybe it was before and I just kept missing it?
However CUPS still reported when the printer was connected that it
couldn't find a driver.

Desktop effects can't be enabled in the open source drivers;
further more they are abysmal, it takes about half a second to paint my
screen when I switch desktops.

I have this problem with Jaunty alpha 3 (+ all updates) with a radeon
mobility HD 3200
With fglrx, When X starts the LCD screen washes out with weird lines.
Switching to a text console does not show a usable screen, although I
find I can still type.
With the radeon driver I get a black screen

Same in in intrepid.
I MUST have un-managed wireless because my home directories are NFS.
Because of this the VPN add button is always disabled.
I should be able to add VPN to *any* interface whether or not it is
managed by the network manager.

I'm wondering if the loss of audio is related to loss of alsa dmix, my
pre-hardy home gnome prefences and pulse audio and multiple user logins.
I'l check into that, it may have been that totem gstreamer (which I
don't use for poor dvd menu support) couldn't play ANY audio.

Ignore the loads of modules are missing, I guess not all the modules
packages were available when I got the update, they'll no doubt follow

Until totem-gstreamer has menus working, can we please NOT have it set
as the default, but use totem-xine instead.
I'm using Hardy and my children keep getting frustrated because totem-gstreamer
keeps getting installed with updates.
It's a load of crock and stops them watching their DVD's,
Happens to me, but not when I run pidgin under strace, so I presume it
is a race condition of some kind.
Here i smy backtrace stuff. I've no idea why it doesn't seem to find the
dbg symbols, I have libglib.*dbg and pidgin.*dbg packages installed

Hardy alpha 3 works for me, no sign of hanging at all, so
