Thanks - your information is well noted.
I'd like to direct your attention to the top message in this forum where it
shows that my release is also 10.04 ... I went through the same process as you
only I was able to do the upgrades while connected to a clear, uninterrupted
broadband
There are so many duplicates because each time I upgraded packages apt
would try to install this one ... giving an error message (above) and
offering to report the bug. There are also a lot of complaints about
this on the Ubuntu forums and linuxquestions.org
This happens after installing the 2.6.3
