I've tried it on a fresh install in a vm as well as on Fedora 12 same
problem

It looks like your starting a new X session so I would imagine that
would do the trick. Could you please attach the requested info since
this seems to be a hardware specific bug. I would go a long way to
helping the developers figure out whats going wrong.
