Now it makes sense why this cannot and should not be fixed in Ubuntu.
To summarize: If you experience lookup delays, change your
/etc/nsswitch.conf to this:

I have the same problem.
Using Frank's method, I could connect to websites I've connected to
before (DNS-cache?) but not to new websites.
Using Joost's method (assuming I followed it correctly), I can edit the
connection but stiill cannot connect to new websites.

Where is the fix? To roll back to Kernel 3.19 is not a fix, it is a
downgrade of a whole OS!
Fgrlx makes trouble for years now. Even AMD stated that the catalyst
suite is only working til 3.19 Kernel Version.

Yes, the system is definitely unusable. The screen is black for about 30
seconds, and then the login screen appears.

Reconnecting wifi worked fine here until the system upgrade to 15.04
(vivid). Since then, after suspend and resume wifi does not work almost

to either switch networking completely off and on again, or select

I get the error when using the Startup Disk Creator on Ubuntu 14.04 to
make a startup USB stick of ubuntu-15.04-desktop-amd64.iso and booting
it within Startup Disk Creator (using the Test button, or running sudo
qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -m 512 -hda /dev/sdb manually).

I've had problems with window spread before, too, but only on a laptop
with Nvidia graphics. On another one with Intel graphics, it works
flawlessly.
Anyways, after upgrading to vivid, I tried to enable window spread using
unity-tweak-tool again, and I got that freeze plus (after a while) crash

I found a workaround for this. Open ~/.remmina/remmina.prefs and set
rdp_keyboard_layout=a409
The value a409 is for Colemak. If you want a different keyboard
layout you can find it on a Windows System in the registry under
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layouts.

Nautilus icon in launcher
I also see this behavior and it is very inconvenient. Additionally, none
of the newly spawned Nautilus icons have the quicklist in their right
click menu.
