Title:
Touchpad is detected as a mouse.
--
ubuntu-bugs mailing list
ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xorg
Touchpad at Dell Vostro V13 is detected as a mouse. Therefore, the touchpad
isn't working correctly.
Even a solution for other Dell notebooks under
http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Touchpad#Touchpad-wird-nicht-erkannt
doesn't work.
ProblemType: Bug
Installed and checked - when I plug the thing in, there's not a single
entry in any of the logfiles. Please let me know if there is an output
of a command you need me to give you. My external DVD drive attached to
the ExpressCard still doesn't work (it does get power, though).

Thanks for this.
I've made the change you put above, but also for cpu1, cpu2, cpu3 etc...
I also installed rcconf and used it to disable the ondemand service
from starting, which might also help, I suppose.

Just a thought... You said you changed
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
That goes back to the normal setting on boot.
Have you had the issue since you did this, and did you make it
permanent?
Also, was it on the guest, or host, or both that you did this on?

I think that this bug is not nouveau specific as it appears also on my
t60 laptop with a ATI Mobility Radeon X1400-128MB graphic card. This
happens mosty when the system is under heavy load. Sometimes I manage to
switch to a console with ALT+STRG+F1 and kill Xorg (with sudo pkill
Xorg). It will
I don't like to have this bug report left as incomplete and rott
somewhere in the deep dark space of LP trashbin ;)
If someone could test this with latest fai on ubuntu maverick or ubuntu
lucid, that would be a plus.
I*m, on the other hand, will raise this issue with upstream

Binary package hint: virt-manager
When trying to sent the combination Ctrl + Alt + Del to a VM using the
menu shortcut nothing happens. This is really annoying because Ctrl +
Alt + Del can cause a reboot of the host, when the keyboard focus is
not properly inside the VM ;-(
