I no longer have this problem anymore, it occured for a few boot ups and
then stopped, I did not apply any new patches.

After re-booting (NO updates took place) my mouse pointer was no longer
visible, but I could still move and left/right click things, I turned
on a little hack that helps identify the location of the mouse when
control is clicked.
I found someone complaining about this proble
