This package is already in the list of packages that have lto disabled,
but the lto1 command is still being invoked and somehow getting confused
with respect to options that are not being passed in by the open3d build
system. Opening a task on gcc-11 because this appears to be a compiler
bug.

Well, it may or may not be a bug in gnome-shell which implements the
dialog; but it is definitely not a bug in update-notifier which is not
involved in the communication between gnome-shell and systemd. It is
likely a bug in gnome-shell signalling the wrong thing to systemd in
this situation.

Unfortunately the patch for transliteration support is non-trivial to
port and I am dropping it as part of the plocate takeover of the mlocate
package. I am therefor

I disagree with this being treated as a question. The user has clearly
stated that, when ubiquity sets up the target disk, his BIOS is unable
to boot it without special intervention in the BIOS options at boot.
This is a valid bug report.

Well, for releases after Ubuntu 20.04, this is effectively fixed by
virtue of the fact that this is no longer in the archive.
And package names are an interface, so we can't exactly change the
