Public bug reported: There is no legacy-image for Ubuntu 20.04.2/20.04.2.0 available for download. I have not found any announcements that this image will not be part of the LTS cycle, and will not receive updates. My assumption with LTS releases is that all parts of the release will be supported according the release cycle.
https://ubuntu.com/about/release-cycle Hardware requiring the HWE kernel for drivers during installation will not be able to use the legacy image for installation without the 20.04.2 update, since it introduces the HWE kernel. Someone has asked here, but there is no link to any announcement to discontinue the legacy image inside the support time window. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1320977/does-ubuntu-no-longer-provide-new-legacy-image This question mentions workarounds not feasible, since the installer requires the HWE kernel to get driver support for newer hardware. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/696418 The impression I got in this thread was that 20.04 was the last version to get Debian installer images. https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/server-installer-plans-for-20-04-lts/13631 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933442 Title: Legacy image for Ubuntu 20.04.2 not published To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1933442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
