I build it with debugging information and it didn't crash! But the when
the game started the client crashed. The server stayed up though.

I am not an Ubunut developer, so hopefully somebody will take notice
soon, but:
RE#4: I used packages.ubuntu.com to search for UnicodeData.txt and saw
that it was in unicode-data and installed it before I noticed it was a
suggestion. I did it all from command line, sorry.
RE#5: While it doesn't
I would say just do:
sudo apt-get install unicode-data
to get rid of the unicode warning. If there is apt-get issue that is
outside the scope of this bug. Never used it, maybe I'll start trying.

Yesterday, after running krandrtray to reset the resolution it was at
least leaving the little desk top menu on the left side (that one that
looks like a foot and has the Add Widgets Lock Widgets menu).
Now, after this mornings updates it leaves the foot in the middle of the
screen, looking ugly
adding /usr/bin/krandrtray does help, but it still resizes the pannel to
the width of the display befdore krandrtray is run. But it's a bit
bitter, thanks.

i just did a kubuntu gusty install, did all the updates, and started
configuring my system and had this problem with my GX110 too. So it
still seems to be broken with the Intel driver.
