This is for policy and security reasons. But anyway, the fix already
exists in the package itself: there is a debconf question asking if you
want to allow configuration and plugin edition from the Web. Just ask
yes, and an override is introduced to change these permissions.
So, I am closing this
Public bug reported:
Hello,
I am the maintainer of the Debian package itstool. The package currently
in Ubuntu was introduced at a time where it was not on Debian. Now it
is, and it is ahead from the Ubuntu version, so you can sync it if you
want to.

Sure, no problem. I am not much used to Launchpad, sorry if I should

Hello,
So it appears that this problem does not occur with the current version,
and was due to a problem that was fixed in the version 0.0.20090214b-3
of the package. The current version in Ubuntu is 0.0.20091225c-3, which
is posterior to the fix.

Hello,
I wonder if this is not linked to an error that was corrected some time
ago in the post-installation script (it was a deprecated call of ucf
without --debconf-ok). Does this bug affect the current 0.0.20091225c-3
version of the package?

Hello.
Thank you for that report. Let me check if this really has to be hidden
– I think it is the case, as this is what is done with Firefox, for
instance – and I shall do the change on the package.

Okay, I took some advice, and this is the right thing to do. I shall
implement it in the next version of the Debian package, to be uploaded
soon to Debian, and then on Ubuntu.

I am working on an auto-configuration option for lighttpd.
The package dependencies will stay as they are, though. That is: if
someone just wants dokuwiki, he will get apache2 to serve it by default,
but if he wants dokuwiki with lighttpd, he will get what he wants.

Sorry, my fault: it was actually not a genuine Ubuntu package. I mixed
up with Debian's backports. I shall close this bug report, if I find how
to do so.
My apologies for this useless noise.
