my system crashed (my fault) and i decided to re-install. if synsptic is attempting to replace my previous install of MySQL with an older version, its not what i asked for. that said i'm verry new at all this any errors sent to you from my machine may, in fact probably are my fault rather than anything you need to worry about. id still like to get back to where i was before it all crashed on me though so please do you're best. thanks Tel
