Hi !
I'm still experiencing that issue with an Up to date Ubuntu system.
Got a very long freezer yesterdday, 10mn and the hard drive was still actively
running and i just could do anything.
Any news about that problem ? Is it really reproduced by anybody else ?
Thanks.

Please don't tell me we will have to wait until the next release to get
that bug fixed ?
I really can't stand patching the kernel with nohz=off at the cost of
performance...
Why isn't that bug even triaged :'(

Ok thanks. I will try that tonight.
I still hope for a real fix to come out :(
It's really sad to get more hardware problem when updating Ubuntu (10.04 was
very stable on that netbook).

Hmmm finally the problem is partially solved.
When the wifi is not connected, i still get some freeze.
Maybe that's why i had the feeling the issue was fixed when it wasn't ?

@Daniel Dräs:
As far as i know, this bug comes from an optimization attempt of the kernel.
So yes, if that worked it would have improved maybe a little the battery life.
But on 10.04, i already managed to reach something like 7 hours of battery life.
So it's not really a big concern. I prefer a
Well looks like the intel_idle.max_cstate=0 worked for me too !
@Sunner Sun: Well i'm deeply sorry. Looks like you were right in the end. That
lenovo fix do work on that issue too.
I wonder why the fix didn't work on the first boot i made with it :/

Ok thanks !
I tried the different fix proposed for the lenovo bug #634702 but it didn't
work...
I will try your self-compiled kernel to see how it goes !

I tried this fix for the similar bug : Bug #657990
Sadly this didn't worked.
Looks like it's a very similar issue concerning that idle driver but not
fixable using the same methods :(
I tried the proposed kernel without success and manually adding the
parameter to the kernel boot didn't worked
So it's sudo update-grub or sudo update-grub2 on a freshly installed
Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook edition ?
Thanks for your help :)

By the way my problem is not really booting on toshiba NB200 but more the bug
happening after boot.
Still found no way to prevent the system to freeze everytime i don't touch the
touchpad...

Paul Hist is probably right.
Description of symptoms is far more similar on bug #638434.
If someone can change the duplicate status it would be great. We would regroup
NB200 and NB300 issues.

I can confirm too that this exact same problem concerns the toshiba
NB205 too.
I created a bug report for Toshiba NB205 Bug #657990 that will probably be
merged soon with this one.
Such a disappointment, Unity looks great but i can't even watch a video on my

I disagree :/
Sure the fix for Lenovo fix the boot of the NB200.
But only the boot problem.
I'am 99% sure that the freeze will persist from time to time even when the
system is totally ON.

Hi !
Am i the only one to think that this never ending bug is wrong ?
The fix is well known since a long time. Even before lucid was released we
already knew how to fix that bug.
And it's still not working if you don't patch modprobe.d manually...
Maybe the bug is not important, maybe it's the
