I managed to create successful compressed dumps with trusty makedumpfile
Version: 1.5.5-2ubuntu1.6, with both a linux-3.13.0-137 and a
linux-3.13.0-85. That was on an amd64 kvm system.
So, this tells me this is system dependent, and we need more information
on its configuration, and all the help

been applied to 7.2.2-1. The verification mentioned on comment #7 was
against a ppa.
We can't ask IBM to properly verify it on bionic until we get this

proper modules. It would be a bug on initramfs-tools-core.
Can you change /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf to have MODULES=dep
instead of MODULES=most and run mkinitramfs -o /tmp/initrd.img `uname
-r`, then send me output?

Florian, thanks for the heads-up and for pursuing this. I read some of
the links pointed out in that bug, and I see there is much to improve
yet, and 4.17 might not have the best pkeys story for powerpc. Maybe we
should just disable that test in the meantime.
