Hi,

I have a very similar problem and noticed the following:
My external display is working with Nvidia "Performance Mode" only. In 
"On-demand" mode, I have a black screen that it is not detected in Ubuntu 
system settings, although it is detected by Nvidia X Server Settings.
As if we needed a parameter in On-demand to force HDMI interface to start with 
Nvidia card and not Intel.

Any hints about this?

@Igor, are you sure that you are in "On Demand" mode? I realized that it
automatically switches to "Performance Mode" when we change the driver.

- Secure Boot Disabled
- Nvidia driver 440 activated
