I had the same issue and I disabling the default for Wayland also resolved it for me. (I had to uncomment the line #WaylandEnable=false in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf.) Initially after updating from 17.04 to 17.10 I had no troubles. For me this mouse issue appeared some time after (not right away)
