So as it seems to be not specific to nvidia drivers, it is probably a Xorg bug... I'll try to run firefox in gdb, it may be useful. The bugreport is already in the mozilla bugtrack (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430091) but it seems to be quite inactive. Maybe a bugreport on Xorg
