sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-387 nvidia-387-dev nvidia-modprobe
nvidia-opencl-icd-387 nvidia-settings
cd /var/lib/dpkg/info/
nano nvidia-387.postinst
# go to line ~208 in file 'nvidia-387.postinst' and change $KERNELS

Currently using the graphics team ppa:

This is an issue with the nvidia driver (in my case 387.12) not
supporting the low latency kernel. during nvidia DKMS compilation an
error is generated making the module compile fail.

I think Freevo must be part of Ubuntu the only other software I have apart from
Ubuntu is Adobe.

This is a bit of a problem for me. I have a laptop Acer Aspire 5024wmli,
and my Gigabit nic works under windows, but stopped working under ubuntu
Karmic about a week ago.
how can i help get this one fixed?

Same problem on my amd64 laptop 8.04 latest. Last solution fixed it.
Looks like the latest xserver conf does not contain a serverlayout,
which makes adding a new input device impossible without re-constructing
it.
Can i suggest that these get fixed/pushed upstream:
1. the xorg build has touchpad
It does the same for the default livecd screen setup with the AMD64 Ubuntu 8.04
alpha on my laptop with an Nvidia Chipset.
Using the gnome-appearance-properties tab, and switching from normal back to
compviz effects seems to work for me.
