[Bug 411018] Re: Root's desktop loaded while logged in as normal user

2010-08-18 Thread Tim van de Kamp
Fabio, thank you for your response. I've never been able to reproduce this weird behavior, neither with Lucid nor Karmic nor Jaunty. I guess it's best to set the status to incomplete or something similar, because this bug report lacks information. -- Root's desktop loaded while logged in as

[Bug 271258] Re: Acer Orbicam gspca's module fails

2010-02-21 Thread Tim van de Kamp
I didn't update my bios, I use the PhoenixBIOS V3.24 on a Aspire 5680. Surprisingly the problem of the webcam not working on windows is _also_ solved by wiggling during boot! That's why I thought it was a hardware problem. I'm absolutely no expert in GRUB, but I experienced this bug on GRUB

2010-01-29 Thread Tim van de Kamp
Thanks, krisgesling, that solved my problem. I've blacklisted 'gspca_vc032x' now. Although was able to do a normal boot. The bug occurred every now and then. When I waggled the camera, the boot continued normally. I guess it's some hardware connection problem. -- Very slow loading login screen

2010-01-29 Thread Tim van de Kamp
I was able to 'solve' this bug by 'wiggling' my build-in Acer Orbicam. I may be a different bug, but thought that my comment may help someone. For more information, see #477086. -- Acer Orbicam gspca's module fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271258 You received this bug notification

[Bug 477086] Re: Very slow loading login screen

2009-11-25 Thread Tim van de Kamp
Great comment! I guess the webcam was the problem. Actually, I 'fixed' the problem here by turning the build-in webcam in my notebook. (I think the webcam was not good connected but I can't disconnect the webcam because it's build-in.) Could you tell me how you solved the problem? I attached my

[Bug 392158] Re: grub2 doesn't support security features, such as password

2009-11-07 Thread Tim van de Kamp
Well, you could just add echo 'set superusers=myusername' echo 'password myusername mypassword' to /etc/grub.d/00_header and change 'menuentry $1 {' to 'menuentry $1 --users myusername {' in 10_linux or 30_os-prober. After that, run 'update-grub' as root. -- grub2 doesn't support security

[Bug 411018] [NEW] Root's desktop loaded while logged in as normal user

Public bug reported: A few days ago I encountered this bug using Ubuntu 9.04. I was logged in as a normal user. When I started my computer the normal desktop was loaded, all my favorite 'launchers' were on the desktop and the right wallpaper. I did some things on the PC, like browsing and
