There is a regression with the fix. Now, if you set the keyboard layout
switcher to Alt + Shift, some programs cannot use key combinations like
Alt +Shift + Insert. Trying to type this shortcut, changes the keyboard
layout and doesn't pass the command to the program.

session-service (and let it respawn automatically) after login, the

1. Created two scripts to increase and decrease the brightness (see

2. I put them in a folder under home and made them executable.

I'm currently on the 3.8.0 kernel with Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring) x64 on a
Thinkpad x201. I have hibernation enabled by following the instructions
in the official Ubuntu documentat
BIOS installed (1.40-1.15)[2], and can reproduce this
issue with the latest mainline kernel available to me (v3.11-rc3-saucy)[3].
I didn't experience this issue with the 3.5.0 kernel (with Ubuntu 12.10
Quantal), so it appears to be a regression.

I went through the changes file in the 3.10-rc4-saucy folder and there's
absolutely no reference to brightness, acpi, video, toshiba, power
management.
Is it really worth testing if no changes have been done with respect to

[Toshiba Satellite R830] brightness control
levels. However, it is doing something, because if I
remove this grub command, when I wake my computer from sleep, the
brightness level goes up to maximum, whereas with the Grub command it is
remembered.
A solution to me seems to make the brightness control associated with
/sys/class/backlight
Tested with the latest mainline kernel; bug has not been fixed.
Additionally, after resuming from hibernate and turning off Bluetooth
(through System Settings), I'm no longer able to turn Bluetooth on (it
flips to on then immediately off). Not sure if this is related.

I checked again and now the 3.10 kernel is labelled "saucy" and there's
no longer any virtual packages. It is lacking the extras package. I'll
try it and see what happens.

1. The 3.10rc1 kernel is labelled Precise but I'm on raring. Is this a problem?
2. There are two different kernel sets, one labelled "generic" and one
