With Jaunty final and LyX 1.6.2, the problem is still there. I think all
you need to do is add
Application;
to the /usr/share/applications/lyx.desktop file on the
Categories=Office;WordProcessor;Qt;
line. Doing so fixed the problem for me.

Attached is the log from when it happened today. For the first time it

installer. I was just able to create RAID volumes using the Debian net
install CD, but can't with any of the Feisty install CDs--desktop,
server, or alternate.

I have the same problem on a POWERBOOK G4 WITH THE POWERPC VERSION OF
FEISTY.
Sorry. I had to all caps that. My DVD drive is listed as a Matshita
DVD-R UJ-816.
It's not limited to Samsung drives, or HP machines, or even i386 or
amd64 kernels.
And it happens even when there's nothing in the
Public bug reported:

Because of a missing entry in setup.py, the reportlab.graphics.barcode
package doesn't get installed. The problem has been fixed in reportlab's
downloadable stuff, but persists in this package.

Actually, it turns out that it has been fixed in subversion, but the
most recent release download has the bug.

The only change necessary seems to be to add to setup.py
'reportlab.graphics.barcode'
between
'reportlab.extensions' and
'reportlab.graphics.charts'
At least that worked for me when I downloaded the 2.0 package. I don't know if
that fixes the package problem, though.
