As far as I can tell, the latest updates to the Jaunty mesa stuff has
fixed both of my problems! All the letters and numbers are showing up
and, more importantly, I'm using image overlays without issue now. =)

That corrected it. My performance is now about 18 fps, still lower than
I used to get, but it's now playable.

Just upgraded to the new Jaunty kernel (2.6.28-1) and the new Intel
driver (2.5.1 or whatever). Still having the same problem. I've
attached an updated screencap, note all the missing letters.

Running the latest version of Intrepid (updated today) and the problem
still exists I'm afraid :(
If you need any more info or testing done on it then please feel free to
contact me. I'm pretty busy at the moment but I will find the time to
help out if it gets this bug sorted out once and for all
Booted up-to-date Intrepid with 2.6.27-3.4 successfull 3 times without any
problems to desktop with Virtualbox 2.0.0 and VT-X/AMD-V disabled. The third
time it fell back to text-output doing a fsck check but continued without any
problems.
I do have to say that with VT-X/AMD-V (which my CPU

Alright, some update to Kubuntu Intrepid fixed this somewhat, but not
entirely.
Whereas the roads used to break up as the image overlays do, now the
roads are solid at all times. I have two new problems though:
1- Only certain letters/numbers appear. For example, the coordinates at
the bottom

Being that I'm now using the Intrepid alpha, I have completely different
issues, but those are being addressed elsewhere.

I cannot guarantee that the issue is 100% gone, because I do not use
this notebook anymore that often. But so far, I had no issues
considering the instability and no freezes as well with Hardy. I would
recommend to close this bug though.

I had this issue, too. But after trying some options in the virtual
machine do the following to get a much higher successful boot rate (at
least it works for me):
Go into the Settings of the VM, choose the Advanced Tab in General and
check Enable VT-X/AMD-V. I am virtualizing with Windows
Update: I tryed to boot up the machine today as of this bug report after
disabling and reenabling the VT-X/AMD-V option. Now the VM does not find
the Hard disk and is stuck at

It's a little hard to test this one the same as before because the auto
changing of the brightness doesn't seem to be working at all anymore. It
doesn't dim down by itself when removing the power, even though I ticked the
box in Gnome power management.

only short term for both. No problems from what I can see so far.

more in-depth testing while using the battery A.S.A.P :)

Just tried hibernate again on Hardy Beta with latest updates and it
worked fine :D
This wasn't an exhaustive test though, I just hibernated while Firefox was open
and started the computer back up once it had completely shut down.

I'm also having this problem, but with KDE 3.5. The battery icon can
tell when the system has been unplugged, and seems like it updates
itself then, but otherwise sits there on the same percentage number
regardless of the actual charge in the battery. For example, it spent
hours yesterday at 5%
Did not help. Still just as choppy as ever. In fact, on the new user
account, it took several minutes just to open.

I'd like to note that somewhere along the way, the brightness broke
again, and one again cannot be controlled. However, booting off of a
live CD, I note that I am able to at least partially control it. I'm
going to wait until the first Hardy Alpha comes along with a new kernel

this worked fine up until the last update to acpi. I really wish that
somebody who is capable of fixing would look at it...

Well, in the time since I filed the bug report, I have done a clean
install of 6.10, which helped a great deal.
That said, it still likes to crash sometimes, though not frequently,
when popups are called. I'd say 1 in 15 popups or dialog boxes cause
crashes now, though there appears to be no set
