I have the same problem and can also confirm that it affects Hardy. At
first all I knew was that the pointer was sometimes disappearing in
Firefox, but now I see that Cory's description is right on the mark. (I
haven't tested HWCursor though.) Since the original posters haven't

upgraded all of those plus the compiz ones to the latest versions in

I have been unable to get the NVIDIA drivers to install properly in the

I investigated the window decorator aspect of this fairly thoroughly.
See duplicate bug 194933. There is some form of corruption for every
window decorator (gtk-window-decorator and Emerald engines) and every
GTK theme, though with different degrees of severity.

I take it back. Just a moment ago I most definitely saw this occur on
Emerald with the legacy engine. I'd been using it for a week or more
without a problems though, so that means the bug is vastly less frequent
for Emerald than with any theme in gtk-window-decorator. I will try
using a different

Occasional screen-wide blink when using
I decided to take a deeper look into it, and it looks like it's not
gnomebaker's fault; it's cdrkit's fault. Should this bug be filed
elsewhere?
`readom` will detect the error, but it returns a success error code. I
wrote a quick sh script wrapper to return a failed exit code. gnomebaker
picks it
I've now tried changing the Legacy Fullscreen Support and Unredirect
Fullscreen Windows options while experiencing this problem, but that
had no effect. I also checked my memory usage when this happened and it

Interesting news. It turns out that this is not only on Clearlooks after
all; I have now observed it on the Mist theme, which has its own engine.
The frequency of the bug on Mist also seems to vary. Some times it can
go for ages without the bug happening at all. Other times it will happen
just as

situation, b/c right now it is repro'ing on my Firefox and Eclipse

I upgraded all my compiz packages to the latest hardy version today to
see if there were new features, but instead compiz dies with a
segmentation fault for me whenever I try and start it. Version info:

I can confirm Rav's findings regarding the 169-series NVIDIA drivers. I
am using 169.09 now (installed from the hardy repos, with a workaround
for bug 192524) and this problem no longer occurs.

FYI, this problem still exists. I am now using the compiz versions in
the gutsy repos again (b/c latest hardy ones are broken), but I have
upgraded the NVIDIA driver to the hardy version (169.09).
Also, I have found yet another class of UI elements that experience this
delay: the drop-down boxes
Unminimizing windows is also delayed.

I've found that XVideo bug filed as bug 147926. The reporter says it
happens when you turn compiz on and then off, and I found that's true
for me too, so probably that's what you and me were getting and it's
unrelated to the blinks. You may be interested to know that the latest
NVIDIA
