I have pidgin on my launcher. When I click on it the program starts but
I can't access it. I have to right click on the program icon in the
launcher and select quit. When I open it the second time I can access
the main Pidgin window.

Wired network shows disconnected but networking works.

Ubuntu 12.04 - When I boot up I get a connection established message
for my wired network. I can browse the web, etc and everything works
fine. The problem is that when I clieck on the network manager it shows
Wired Network disconnected and will not let me connect to my VPN
I deleted the wired network then added it again. After a reboot it seems
to work OK and does not require me to disable networking and renabling
it just to connect to my VPN.
