i've switched over to intrepid in the meantime, the bug seems to be gone
with all the latest packages. not sure about hardy tho.

Thanks for the link, I fixed the problem myself by altering xorg.conf.
Just in case someone does not know where to find it, its in /etc/X11/
Add the following lines to the Device section:
Option UseEdidDpi false
Option DPI 96 x 96
Save the file, then restart the X server by pressing
Thanks for your comment, but in this case, I am not so sure it is solely
a nvidia-glx-new problem, because the dpi seem to be correctly detected
by X:

Addition: I also checked fonts everywhere else in Ubuntu, they are all
