I haven't had any crash in a long time since the official Gutsy release
(and I forced Compiz with the ATI card). I guess this bug could be
closed.

After installing Gutsy Beta, or still while on the LiveCD (Gnome

With Gutsy beta, whatever I do nothing works and the installer finishes
without any other word. I still haven't been able to install Gutsy...
I've got other partitions, one with W2K and one with Ubuntu 07.04.

I confirm I've had the same problem, except that for point 2), the
dialog initially proposed to resize the partition to some non zero
value. Note that I simply set that size to the actual size of the
existing partition and then everything went Ok (though I would of course
not do this on a productio
