For the moment I no longer run Ubuntu as my default OS. But I managed to
work around the issue by using the binary amd catalyst driver. You can
close the issue.

My 2nd monitor (a Samsung SyncMaster 930BF) worked perfectly up to
kernel 3.5.0.19-generic. Starting from 3.5.0-21-generic up to now
(3.5.0-32-generic) the display is not usable. It just flickers very

Same problem after upgrade from Karmic 9.10 to Lucid 10.04 beta 2.
Cleaning ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session solved it.

Click Customize ...
Select the Colors tab
Set the background color for Tooltips to #F6F88B
Set the foreground color for Tooltips to #00
And restart Eclipse after that.
