Steps to reproduce:
1) Boot up and log into computer.
2) Plug Epson AcuLaser C900 into computer via USB.
3) Turn on printer.
Expected result:

Update: noticed my original problem was a little different than the OP
(not caused by video settings). I solved my problem by restarting GDM
(seems something was holding onto the sound device - or at least ALSA
thought so, I couldn't find anything with 'fuser -v /dev/snd/*'). Upon

Just double-checked with Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon live cd shift-delete
worked ok. I'm using Linux Mint 4.0 and assumed same versions of Tomboy,
however Ubuntu uses 0.8.0-1 Linux Mint uses 0.8.0-1mint (not sure of
differences if any) - perhaps it's particular to the OP's configuration
