I can't believe I'm the first to suggest this, but we could take a page
from Apple and poke a little fun at Microsoft (see attachment).
More seriously, I think the disk icon should stay in the background to
indicate the actual partition and not confuse it with things like the
applications menu.
This problem is not specific to SSH mounted folders, it seems to apply
to FTP (with password) folders as well.
I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and haven't had this problem until this week.

After installing Ubuntu 8.04 on an old computer and rebooting, I was
prompted that the system time was wrong and asked to change it. I
clicked on the button to change the time and date which brought up the
standard date and time dialog.
Yes, that works. Shouldn't a .Trash folder be already set up by default,
then?

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nautilus
When I try to delete a file anywhere outside of my home folder, I get a
message saying that it cannot be moved to trash. I am given an option to
permanently delete it.
Steps to reproduce:
1 - Go to the /tmp folder.
2 - Create a new file there
You may have already tried this, but have you tried the devices in
different USB ports and in different sets of USB ports (e.x. front and
back ports)?

I believe this is true of almost any file not in your home folder. I am
not, however, sure if this is a bug or by design. Can someone who knows
more about this please confirm if this is a bug or explain why it is not
a bug?

Unfortunately, I cannot confirm this. Can anyone else confirm this?
I assume you mean that if you set the home page from Edit Preferences
and it changed back, right?

Then if the same thing happens when you delete a file on an ext3
filesystem is that a bug? When I try to delete a file on my main
partition (ext3) that are outside of my home folder (and that I have
permission to delete), they do not go to trash.

(On Hardy 8.04) I can confirmt that when Prism is installed in Firefox,

Also, I noticed one thing that could be useful for debugging this.
Normally, when you save a web page, there is an HTML file and a folder.
When you save a web page on Firefox with Prism installed (I used the
hardy start page), the folder is created and contains a CSS file and
nothing else.
--
Also in Ubuntu 8.04 (full up to date, but without hardy-backports
enabled), I tried saving this page from the right-click menu and from
the file menu. Neither crashed Firefox.
Could it be something from hardy-backports?

I can confirm this. The documents I used (original.odt, new.odt) are

Same error.

As a clarification, do you mean the bullets are gone or the bullet
format is changed. For me the bullets are still there, but they use a
different symbol. (And yes it is possible to change the symbol back to
the original.)

Thilo Six - I am sure others know better than I do, but that sounds like
