How about an amplification on/off switch in the sound preferences?
Some people want this changed, others don't. Can we find a compromise?

@Sebastien Bacher: The problem never went away, so it should never have
been closed. Creating a new bug just loses all the previous people
interested in the problem. If you're not interested simply unsubscribe.

The problem went away for a few weeks and then reappeared. Waiting 30
seconds to open a 1 page pdf is not normal. During the hanging, the cpu
is idling, so it's not doing some heavy duty calculation.
I have attached a new backtrace with more debug symbols. The program
was interrupted with ^C
New release schedule and naming scheme
The Mercury project has decided to adopt a 6 monthly release schedule with each
release being named by the year and month of the release. The next planned
release is 10.04 which is due for release in April 2010.

can confirm this problem in Hardy.
The shared printer is switched off so the job can't complete. In this
case the not connected notification is correct. But the notification
keeps coming back every 10 seconds even after having

To reproduce: switch off the remote printer and print to it. The Not
connected? notification appears.

I checked the location and while there are some files the one above is
absent.
This is different from the assigned debian bug
I'm also seeing an immediate resume following suspend on an Intel P4
desktop.

I wonder if we could have an update on this bug.
- Has the problem been pinned down?
- Is there a kernel patch accepted or in the pipeline?
- Do we know yet in which kernel release the problem will be fixed and can we
expect to see it in the repos any time soon?
