Does not work with Gmail addresses. This feature is available with Gmail
(I mean Gmail supports invisible status), since I can set status
invisible with chat applet on Gmail and it works, but it does not seem
to be implemented with Empathy.

Yes. The problem seems to be with the libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a-2.19.4.. I
installed (dpkg) the older release 2.18.2-1 and gnote works.
