I think your problem is solved in edgy, for edgy uses the performance

Enabling composite crashed Xorg
May be something in between - #68714 seems to be a concrete incanation
of this problem. I've got absolutly no idea how to get closer to this
bug - I replaced both, eclipse sun-jkd with there upstream versions,
but the problem does not disappear (it worked finde in dapper - am
running edgy now).
One question - do you have this problem only with SWT-applications or
also with those using other window-tool-kits?

Using gcc with -libaio does cause the described error - creating the
symbolic link solves the problem (for edgy) ... there exists another
symbolic link in /usr/lib/ named libaio.so.1 - should this be pointing
to libaio.so?

Same here, the sunjavavm locks up and is only killable via kill -9. I
think this problem is related to gtk-accessibilty (during the pre-
betaphase, I removed some packages and suddenly quiting the VM worked -
sorry, I do not remember which package it was).
