OK bug fixed. Apparently all I had to do was fn+f7 in the login screen.
Xo I'd tried that while logged in but that had no effect (shrugs).
Probably locked it while pressing every key I could trying to fix force
quit (which may be an actual bug btw)

the answer is yes.
this font should display urdu text even if urdu package is not
installed. There is some default font thats why we can see/read urdu at
least.
Udu Nastaliq Unicode is not well supported,
for keyboard layout the best option to compare things with is google
urdu translitration, it is the most easiest keyboard layout.

I have enabled english arabic keyboard layouts. I have the following
settings:

I found out that I done a mistake of setting the second string 'sources' key to
the literal string 'xkb_layout' instead of the layout codename.
So, I changed the setting as follows:
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.input-sources sources
[('xkb', 'us'), ('xkb', 'ara')]

conversion from svg to png causes mogrify to consume all memory

in kubuntu version 12.1
i dot imagemagick via apt-get install inkscape which also i think
installs imagemagick with it
using command mogrify -format png *.svg
what happens is mogrify
this is the version i have , i got it by typing mogrify |more then
getting the first line that has the version

There is an easy solution: don't enable Text direction (RTL|LTR) buttons
on the toolbar if CTL support isn't enabled, when user don't find this
