I have the same problem on karmic. Have set USE_EMERALD='yes' and
DECORATOR='emerald' on /usr/bin/compiz-decorator, /usr/bin/compiz-
manager and /usr/bin/compiz but compiz ignore that and always starts gtk
as default decorator. It's a confirmed bug, for sure.

i used the xorg-edgers ppa and the problem is solved.
i used the apport-collect to provide the needed files in case anyone wants to
find the cause of the bug in the original packages in lucid.
i'm staying with the xorg-edgers stuff for now :P

Binary package hint: netbook-launcher
There is a dependency missing on netbook-launcher package: libgl1-mesa-
glx
I only got to know that after I could not load netbook-launcher. It kept
telling me I was missing libGL.so.1 library which was in this package.

Ubuntu-netbook-remix doesn't work with compiz or even compositing.
Activating any of those and you can`t see the gnome panel and other
visual desktop. It breaks the video.

It happened to me on karmic after installing either desktop-switcher or
activating compiz. I don`t really know which one for sure.
This is how i solved the problem. Switch back to the netbook-remix
interface (if you wishe to stay with it). Deactivate every desktop
effects. (That's weird but this

Ubuntu-netbook-remix doesn't work with compiz or even compositing
Same here (upgraded to 9.10). After blue faces comes, setting HUE at
default position in VLC helps only until I open video file with Totem.
Then again HUE goes to min position. Setting HUE to default in Totem
fixes the problem.
